Being a single parent was not something I envisioned for my life, but it happened to me nonetheless. In this video, I shared five things no one prepares you for as a single parent… in Nigeria.

African Black Soap: This soap is made from plants and herbs, and is known for a variety of benefits to the skin. It Improves skin tone, reduces inflammation, and deeply cleanses. In general, African black soap can be used by all skin types but could irritate dry or sensitive skin. Hence it is advised to add humectants like honey/glycerine, to boost its moisture content and also moisturize skin immediately after use. It Can be used daily but may need to be slowly incorporated into a routine.
Salicylic Acid: this is a beta-hydroxy acid. It is a chemical exfoliant known for reducing acne by exfoliating the skin and keeping pores clear. Salicylic acid penetrates your skin and works to dissolve the dead skin cells clogging your pores. It can take several weeks of use for you to see its full effect.
Sugar (Glycolic Acid): Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, which helps to exfoliate the skin and is used in many scrub recipes. It is also a natural humectant meaning it draws moisture from its surroundings into the skin and helps to retain any moisture the skin absorbs. Products that contain sugar and its derivatives actually hydrate the complexion and help to keep moisture in the skin leaving it smooth and plump.
Neem: Neem is able to balance oil production, heal wounds, stimulate collagen formation, reduce post-acne scars, and minimize skin inflammation. It works as a natural alternative to heal the skin tissue from within and simultaneously reduces hyperpigmentation and scars.
Tumeric:
Cinnamon
red sandalwood: It helps fade dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and blemishes, resulting in a more even-toned complexion. It possesses anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe various skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. It calms skin irritation and reduces redness.
Hair masks have proven over time to promote hair growth and length retention, moisturize, strengthen, and improve fullness. As a mum of a 7-year-old with type-3-hair hair, that has suffered from stunted growth, I have decided to be intentional with the type of masks I use on my child’s hair. Recently, I started experimenting with DIY masks and hair treatments to boost the health of my daughters’s hair and I must say that I am impressed with the results.
